Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is diagnosed and managed by appropriate clinicians. Weight reduction can improve OSA severity for some patients, but it does not replace CPAP or other prescribed therapy when those are indicated.
Why weight programs ask about snoring and sleep
- Poor sleep increases hunger hormones and late-night eating
- Daytime fatigue reduces activity
- OSA is a comorbidity clinics document for risk and eligibility
Practical weight steps
Prioritize deficit + protein, alcohol limits, and consistent sleep timing. If you already have a sleep diagnosis, tell your weight-loss clinic before any medication discussion.
